Services

There is very little that cannot be arranged for the good of our residents by special arrangement.  Standard services include:

  • Internet/e-mail
  • Telephones
  • Transportation
  • Guardianship

Internet/e-mail
Everyone staying at Rowan House will have free *high speed Internet access and their own e-mail address: [YourName]@Rowanhouse.Org.UK

Telephones
Parents/friends may call between *certain hours or at other times by arrangement - or in emergency

Private fixed land lines can be arranged for student's rooms - as can mobile phones

Transportation
If you are staying at Rowan House and attending day school we shall either take you to school or arrange a secure service.  If you are school boarders we will ensure you arrive and return safely during holidays and exeats.  We also make regular trips to the town centre and other places of interest

We can collect you from the airport - or provide you with an inexpensive ticket to reach Rowan House by public transport

Guardianship
One of the most important services we can build into a standard package is Guardianship.  This is made up of several elements and is taylor made in each case.  Some examples would include:

  • Attending School Meetings
  • Advising and helping with selection of schools and entry procedures
  • Assisting with choice of subjects to take at GCSE or Advanced level
  • Providing or finding suitable additional tuition
  • Accompanying Students to London or other places of interest

*House Rules
Note that whilst we are as easy going as possible, we do stick quite strictly (for the sake of all our guests) to 'house rules'.  Most residents find these quite agreeable and usually contribute to their general format.  As these are constantly reviewed, in accordance with parents wishes, etc. they are not stated here.  Some examples from the current set are:

  • No phone calls after 9:30 PM
  • Own rooms by 9:30 except Fridays, Saturdays and some holidays
  • No TV after 9:00 (this is varied according to parent's wishes)
  • Homework gets priority ..... sorry !

  • Piano lessons (at Rowan House)
  • Electric Organ lessons (at Rowan House)
  • Computer lessons (at Rowan House)
  • Tennis lessons at the Royal indoor/outdoor tennis club
  • Private tuition in any other subject can also be arranged
  • Occasional weekends and activity breaks

Please note: we need prior parental consent before we organise any activities

Parents are also welcome to visit the house and we would be happy to assist with the arrangements
